Second trimester · roughly month 7 · about 13 weeks to go
27 weeks pregnant
Everything Hello Belly has for week 27 — how your baby is developing, what your body is doing, and the small things that are easier to know in advance.

Your baby at 27 weeks
27–28 weeks
Who’s grown big! Now a new wave of active growth has begun, your baby is constantly increasing in size (now he can already weigh up to 2.2 lb). First of all, it is caused by the active development of the brain: the pituitary gland produces hormone somatotropin, responsible for the growth of your darling. But this is not the only hormone secreted by the baby: most of the organs begin to provide themselves with necessary hormones, so the baby is less dependent on your hormonal background. Moreover, now he can even help your body by pulling on some functions, which will make you feel much better (well, finally!).
The nose is not just a pretty small button: the sense of smell is fully developed and will work as soon as the baby starts to breathe. There appears more and more fat under the skin, which makes it almost natural color (before that it was thin and bright red). Bones are getting stronger. And in general, you can feel the increase in your child in size: all of his exercises you feel clearly and you can even understand with which part of his body your baby is pushing your belly.

Who is speaking?
Your child is still so small, and already hears not only your voice, but also the voices around you. True, everything she hears is muffled.
