How to cope with edema
Leg swelling is common at the end of the second and into the third trimester. Fortunately, if there are no other serious health problems, and the swelling is only a consequence the fetus putting pressure on the pelvic vessels, you can cope with edema without the help of medicines.
Start with the simple things: go easy on salt, which helps with the fluid you are holding on to, keep moving, keep drinking (8 to 12 cups a day — drinking less makes it worse), and get your feet up whenever you can. Also, try some simple exercises.
