Most pregnancy chatbots are a text box with a prompt behind it. This one knows how far along you are, remembers what you told it in the first trimester, logs your weight when you mention it, and shows you which of its own guides an answer came from.
What makes it different
It knows what week you're in
The same question has a different answer at week 9 and week 39. Hello Belly answers for the week you're actually in, and it will tell you when the answer changes later on — you don't have to say "I'm 24 weeks" every time.
It remembers
The thing your midwife said at the 20-week scan, the food that makes you gag, the fact that you're having twins. It carries that forward across months, and you can read and delete anything it has remembered — the memory is a list you own, not a black box.
It can actually do things
"I weighed 68.4 this morning" logs your weight. "Two glasses of water" updates hydration. "Show me my weight since week 20" draws the chart. It asks before it guesses, and it tells you what it did.
It answers from the app's own tips
Informational answers are grounded in Hello Belly's 298 tips, 124 symptom entries and 112 food verdicts, and it links the tip it used — so you can read the source rather than trust a paraphrase.
It knows when to stop
Bleeding, severe pain, reduced movements, a bad headache with vision changes — a safety net catches these and points you at your provider instead of trying to reassure you. It explains things; your doctor decides them.
It's there at 2am
Which is the actual point. The questions don't arrive during clinic hours, and the alternative at 3am is a search-engine rabbit hole that ends somewhere frightening.
The kind of thing people ask it
“Is it normal to feel little hiccups in my belly?”
“Can I eat the feta on this salad?”
“I've barely felt her move today — should I worry?”
“What actually happens at the 20-week scan?”
“Log 68.4 kg and two glasses of water.”
“Show me my weight since week 20.”
“What did the midwife say about my iron again?”
The last one is the one other apps can't do — it's a question about your pregnancy, not about pregnancy.
Questions people ask
Is the AI pregnancy companion free?
Yes. There is no message quota and no paywall on the assistant — asking questions, logging trackers by chat and reading the tips it cites all work without Premium.
Is it medical advice?
No, and it will say so. Hello Belly gives educational information and explains what things mean; your midwife or doctor makes the decisions. For bleeding, severe pain, reduced movements or a fever, contact your provider or emergency services rather than an app.
Does it remember previous conversations?
Yes, across weeks and months, and you can see exactly what it has remembered in Profile → Memories. You can delete any of it, and it will stop being used immediately.
Can I talk to it instead of typing?
Yes. Dictation is built in and transcribes as you speak, which is generally how anyone logs anything at 3am.
What happens to what I tell it?
It stays yours. Conversations and health entries are never sold and never used to advertise to you, and health values are never sent to analytics. Bump journal photos live in your own iCloud private database — we store none of those bytes.
Can it read a photo of a meal or a supplement?
Both. A photo of your plate becomes a nutrition entry with protein, iron, folate, calcium, DHA, choline, fibre and caffeine; a photo of a supplement label becomes a supplement with its real ingredient list.
