3... 2... 1... Go!
This week your baby is like a rocket in the launch sequence: the development of her organs is almost complete, and now all her systems are being tested and readied for launch.
For example, large changes are taking place in her digestive system. The muscles of the esophagus, stomach, and intestines are trained to contract, so that in a few months they can start pushing through food (although it may be pieces of your passport if you relax and leave your baby alone for a moment). By the way, the baby’s intestines were previously in the umbilical cord, but this week they will take their place in the tummy, and the kidneys have begun to produce urine and send it to the bladder. The little bladder — it is still so tiny!
The bone marrow is busy creating white blood cells — weapons that will help your child fight all viruses and germs as soon as she gets out of the nest. Including those on the playground (for the time being, it seems to be a nice play zone for toddlers, but soon you will begin to see the playgrounds as a hotbed of germs!).
The pituitary gland in the small brain has begun to produce hormones that will allow the baby to have children in the future. And brain cells — neurons — are growing and improving to make the baby’s behavior even more complex.
The face of the fetus is becoming more human: the eyes have moved forward (before they were on the sides of the head, like a fish), and the ears are also in place.
If you have not heard your baby's heartbeat, you will definitely hear it this week, because the first screening and ultrasound are waiting for you. By the way, you will also see the hands, legs, face and even the brain of your child during the doctor appointment.
Well, the most important news of the week — your baby has reflexes! She begins to clench and unclench her fists, move her toes, her eyes and... suck! Soon it will become her favorite hobby.
When you move, the baby turns and changes her position, although you still do not feel this. Your belly hasn’t grown very much, and people around you still have no idea that you are pregnant, but the baby has more than doubled in size in the last three weeks, and now she’s the size of your pinky — isn't it a miracle?
