Little egghead!
Now that there is less space left in the uterus, your baby’s movements are reminiscent of the movements of a large beetle. Normally, she should wriggle, straighten her legs and arch her back 4-6 times per hour.
Despite the fact that your belly has become cramped, the baby is very nice and comfortable there. It's a pity she won't be able to remember how good it was in there. By this week, almost all the babies go head down and mentally prepare to make their exit. Thanks to the soft bones of the skull, the baby's brain continues to grow and develop actively — your little superhero has more and more abilities (though her skills may not seem amazing to other people, but you remember well that not so long ago your child was just two microscopic cells — how could you not be amazed?).
In general, your baby is already very clever and certainly smarter than some people who keep bombarding you with advice and tactless questions before you've even given birth.
Your baby's kidneys are fully developed, and her liver is already able to process harmful substances. The last weeks of pregnancy are the period of development of the adrenal glands. Their task is to produce hormones necessary for proper water-salt metabolism in the body. And the adrenal cortex, among other things, stimulates the production of substances needed by the body during stress, so that your little one will learn to stay calm in any situation.
Due to the increase in the amount of subcutaneous fat, the baby's skin is smoother, but natural folds remain, in which lubricant accumulates. These are nice folds in the area of the neck, buttocks, joints — the ones that will cause you to have tears of emotion and a desire to urgently kiss the child.
One of the signs of a full-term baby is the striation on the soles of the feet. By this week, the heels of the fetus are no longer smooth — creases have appeared, like little "prints." Prepare the camera to capture this amazing and sweet sight! The hair of your son or daughter has already regained color and continues to grow, and enough surfactant (substance in the lungs) has accumulated in the body so that the lungs open on the first breath without any help. The baby is ready for the first cry!
