I have an upset stomach: is it childbirth?
Your intestines feel like you ate something offensive and possibly toxic, but don’t panic or blame your dinner, in most cases, upset stomachs in the last weeks of pregnancy are actually a good sign! This is often how birth begins. Your body goes on high alert, rapidly relaxing all of its muscles in preparation. Sometimes, along with an intense desire to visit the toilet, you’ll feel pain in the lower back area and sensations similar to menstrual cramps. So try not to be alarmed by these unpleasant feelings and think instead about how soon you’ll get to meet your baby! Just remember, you cannot trick your body into going into labor by taking a laxative. ;)
