You are being watched!
This week your little secret agent is watching you. The brain of the baby has reached a decent size and already weighs 0.22 lbs. (100 grams), it is very well developed and therefore ceases to grow so quickly. The eyelids are still closed, but she actively moves her eyes and watches the source of light. Of course, it’s unlikely that you have any bright illumination inside, but you can easily shine a flashlight on your belly and feel the baby start to move more actively. By the way, the baby's irises have already formed, but there is not too much pigment in them yet, so even if you could look at her, the color of her eyes would be impossible to tell.
Her ears are already capable of hearing everything from the sound of your voice to the rumbling of your stomach and the noise of your blood circulating, so do not be surprised if your baby somehow persistently kicks you to make the music quieter.
Another important skill that the fetus has learned is grabbing. She has quite coordinated movements, and she can already grasp her nose, ears, or even the umbilical cord with her fingers. Do not worry — the umbilical cord is very strong, and the little one will not damage it, even if she suddenly decides to learn how to pull a rope.
The eyebrows and lips of the baby have already been completely formed, and she looks like a smaller version of a newborn with a height of 11 in (28 cm) and a weight of a pound (half a kilo). Yeah, your son or daughter weighs exactly as much as the 0.5 liter bottle of milk you just bought. And this is great news, because this is exactly the weight from which a child can survive if born prematurely. Just do not tell the baby — it is better to wait until the due date.
You will laugh, but now your fetus is covered with wrinkles and a light down like a little chick. Fortunately, she will soon gain weight and become fat to keep her warm.
Measuring the baby:
Height:
Crown to rump: 7.5 in (19 cm)
Crown to heels: 11 in (27.8 cm)
Weight 0.95-1.1 lbs. (430-500 g)
