Decoding your dreams?
Welcome to the last trimester of pregnancy! This week, the baby is likely to turn upside down, indicating her intention to make her appearance into the big world. How does she know where the exit is? Riddle!
Admit it, you dream of your child, right? Surprisingly, perhaps she dreams of you too! Or maybe she dreams of your smartphone, which she will covet after only a few months? Anyway, the doctors managed to measure not only a certain brain activity of the fetus, characteristic of sleep, but also rapid eye movement, which occurs in the phase of REM sleep (this is when a person has dreams).
Also, about the eyes, the baby most often keeps them closed and she is now intensively learning to blink. This is a very important skill — the same as hiccups, coughing, and peeing. You read that right!
She is growing and all systems of her body are developing. Her facial features are already quite unique and due to the accumulation of subcutaneous fat they soften. Wrinkles are already appearing on her arms and legs and the hair on her head is now filled with pigment.
You can already predict whether your child will be right-handed or left-handed — by which hand she puts in her mouth more often (of course, you can only watch this with an ultrasound scan).
In the alveoli of the lungs of the fetus, surfactant is produced, and by this week it is enough for the baby to be born and to be able to take her first breath on her own. But it’s better to let her stay put for a couple more months — there’s not much time left now until her arrival.
And who showed you her little tongue now? She is a little rascal! Fortunately, the baby wasn’t really teasing you, just tasting the amniotic fluid.
Measuring the baby:
Height:
Crown to rump: 9.8 in (25 cm)
Crown to heels: 14.8 in (37.6 cm)
Weight 2-2.2 lbs. (950-1000 g)
