Please, carrot, do no harm!
Even if you’ve never had a food allergy (lucky!), someone has probably handed you a list of foods to avoid just in case. Good news: you can put it down.
The advice to skip nuts, eggs, milk or wheat during pregnancy was withdrawn back in 2008, and NIAID’s current guidance is that the evidence never supported it. Cutting those foods out doesn’t lower your baby’s chance of an allergy, it only takes good protein off your plate. So unless you have a diagnosed allergy of your own, eat them. Nuts, eggs, fish, dairy, wheat, legumes — all welcome.
