First trimester · roughly month 2 · about 33 weeks to go
7 weeks pregnant
Everything Hello Belly has for week 7 — how your baby is developing, what your body is doing, and the small things that are easier to know in advance.

Your baby at 7 weeks
7–8 weeks
Great news, the baby looks more like a human! His ears and lips are being formed, on his hands and feet you can already notice the beginnings of fingers and toes. The baby's first teeth and jaw are being formed, the tongue has appeared in the mouth, and the first taste buds have grown on it. The nervous system and respiratory system are developing, the optic nerve has now appeared. The heart has been divided into 4 chambers, like an adult one, and it is working non-stop.
Look at his big clever head (well, it's the way all smarties are shown in cartoons!) He has already developed a brain that has split into two hemispheres. Every minute, 100 new brain cells are formed.
Just imagine how quickly the baby is growing: he has grown from a tiny zygote the size of several microscopic cells to 2 cm (0.8 in) from the crown to the tailbone by the end of week 8, that is slightly less than the phalanx of your little finger.

What a brainy baby!
So, the good news this week: your baby has fingers and toes. True, they look more like paddles with membranes than those cute fingers that you will kiss and tickle, but time will fix everything.
