Fastfood during pregnancy

Of the 5 fastfood entries here, 5 are fine. Usually it's how something was cooked or stored that decides it, not the food itself — each entry says which, and why.

Every fastfood entry, with a verdict

Sorted with the ones worth knowing about first. Avoid means skip it entirely; take care means it depends on how it was prepared.

  • Hot dogs

    Safe

Make sure that the hot dog was cooked properly and enjoy!

  • Burgers

    Safe

Make sure that all the ingredients are cooked well, especially meat. Try to avoid processed burgers from the big fast-food chains as they contain no nutrients but lots of trans-oils and calories.

  • French fries

    Safe

They are okay to eat, but don't overdo it with french fries as they can lead to excessive weight gain.

  • Sandwiches

    Safe

Sandwiches are okay when you make them on your own. Avoid sandwiches with deli meat and other meat or fish ingredients that were not steamed. Don't buy ready-made sandwiches or do it only in trusted places.

  • Pizza

    Safe

It's okay to have a piece of pizza, make sure that all the ingredients were cooked well and enjoy!
